Working Girl FINAL DAY - and now what?!
Oh my dear Working Girl fans... It's with great sadness but also a tad of excitement that I am writing the 5th and final daily episode of Working Girl 2.0 as it was probably the most enjoyable one.
Great news first: Record today of 2hours 30mins and 31secs! All together now... Yeah!
Also let's get some facts out of the way with my special "this week in numbers": I walked 44miles - Click here for my itinerary on Google Maps - for 783mins = 13hours, Raised £695 for charity, I burned 3040 calories, drunk 0 units of alcohol, smoked 0 cigarettes, had 7 lattes, 3 pains au chocolat, 1 croissant, 1 egg & bacon panini.
I woked up every morning at 5.44am on the dot, had a first breakfast at 6.17am and left the house at 6.28am.
I met almost everyday the same people at the same places at the same time and it took about 2 or 3 times for us to start noding and finally smiling at each other. Yes fact. All that very good for my OCD-based personality.
I realise the route was really so amazing this year, Limehouse, Wapping, Embankment, 3 different parks - Green, St James and Hyde - and even the last boring bit from High st ken to hammersmith made me happy in the end. Quick fact about Hyde park: I have used the most lovely toilets in there each day.
I dont' want to sound all cheesy but I jsut want to say I have been OVERWHELMED by the support and encouragements I have had all week. I am no Eddie Izzard, god no, I havent' run any marathons... But the emails, texts, tweets, voicemails, calls, from you all, friends, family, work colleagues, from London, but also France, Thailand, even NYC! It was just brilliant all and it made such a difference and gave me the boost I needed to keep going.
That's the emotional sequence out of the way. It's been a brilliant experience, I have been thinking and mind racing all week every morning for hours. Plotting, planning, mumbling, laughing, even dancing on my own (I know.. I got a bit delirious this morning as I walked through totally empty streets), listening to all the music I had carefully selected on my iPhone, watching people, looking at the city itself, parks, the streets. Little things we don't even stop for a second to look at. It was like medidation on the move. I might have spotted something there.
Thanks to my own Harrisson for his support, for washing my outfits every night, for preparing me my meals and his little notes in the morning. Thanks to everyone else for everything. I know it's only walking but for a good cause.
I am now back to normal, with 3 days off ahead. No more 6am starts or Working Girl kit packing. No more limping through the corridors of Haymarket hopefully. and the worst, no more daily updates. What on earth am I going to do on Tuesday mornign I ask you! I have actually been asked by a few of you to keep sending daily updates of my morning routines minus walkathon just for entertainment but of course it would be pushing it. I also believe a successful exit strategy is based on timing and today the timing is right, so I just stop now before you get bored of my daily mails.
So THANKS everyone and be ready for Working Girl 3.0 next year
Over and out - for good
