I am Working Girl and I am back

I haven't blogged for a couple of months (= years in blog time) I know. I blame BT for the lack of broadband connection in our new house. Or you can blame work, Twitter or Facebook. Now onto the important stuff. It's me Working Girl aka Melanie Griffiths plus her white shiny trainers. And I am back.

And yes it's been a year! Some of you might remember my daily updates, facebook statuses, live photo coverage (remember Fluffy he Misterious Dog?) etc. back in 2009 as at 6.45am for a week I power-walked my way through the 8.2 miles that separate my (old) flat in Hackney from my office in Hammersmith... For those who can't remember or didn't know, see the story on my fundraising page from last year - it should at least make you smile http://www.justgiving.com/working-girl. (Note it's inactive now, bear with me while I reconnect the JustGiving dots...

Well you might be pleased (or scared) to know that 'walk to work week' starts again this year on 26 april so I'll be at the ready.

If you are already worried about those deja vu feelings, fear not. Totally different neighbourhood, totally different route and a bigger challenge! I moved house a couple of months ago and  well, the distance to the new house is acutally longer... Yes, am afraid i have to add half a mile because the house is a tad further, and another half mile to walk along the river most of the way - So this year we are talking 9 miles and over 3 hours. See google map if you don't believe me

Some of you must think, "Emilie this is all very nice but I have a life so what on earth has this got anything to with me?" Well I am sorry but I need YOU. I need moral support. I need the pressure. I need facebook messages at 8am. I need tweets, blog comments. I need to know people care in order to keep going. That's what. I know it's not a marathon (I can't run for the life of me) but most of you remember that walking 2.5hours every morning at dawn before a full 9-hour day in the office was no walk in the park. Well actually it was, mostly through Hyde Park, but you know what I mean, it was tougher thatn I thought....

So you've been warned. More info to follow in the next few days from me Melanie.
