The big wigs at the British Fashion Council must have been rubbing their hands with delight as Peter Pilotto, one of the 19 designers who received NEWGEN sponsorship to show at London Fashion Week, revealed what is probably their best collection so far.

The designers, Peter Pilotto and his partner Christopher De Vos, were clearly inspired by Mother Nature revealing dark green, flowing silky dresses and draped tuniques in muted tones.
The fashion house’s iconic print dresses have already proven popular, to say the least, amongst celebs (who were conspicuous by their absence from the front row today) and editors alike, but today the fashion pack was waiting with bated breath to see if the Belgian duo would prove that they are not just a short-lived hit.
And they pulled it off beautifully. Animal prints a go go, bien sur, but with more of that maturity and assurance that only established designers can achieve after a few shows.
Retro chic orange mixed with fur pockets, and patchworks of coloured leather while keeping the silhouettes tailored and structured meant the whole collection was a breath of fresh air in a fashion week dominated, bar a few exceptions, by dark colours and austerity.
The highlights of the collection (and probably what will be the first looks to sell out) were the blown-up Liberty prints and the shredded thigh high leather leggings. All in all, it was a more grown-up, subdued collection - think mother nature meets digital age - which has now sealed Pilotto’s status as one of the hottest young talent.
